The Global Solidarity Fund (GSF) 2026 is now open for applications. This Scottish Government fund supports small Scottish-based organisations, community groups, and grassroots initiatives working on international development and global citizenship.
Through this fund, eligible organisations can build partnerships with counterparts in the Global South. In addition, the programme supports efforts to engage people across Scotland in global issues.

Type:
Grant funding — three categories are available:
- Scottish CSO Strengthening Grant
- Global Citizenship Engagement Grant
- Shifting the Power Grant
Who can apply?
- Legally constituted SCIOs or Scottish-based companies with charitable status (annual income under £200k).
- Social enterprises and unincorporated associations operating on a not-for-profit basis.
- Applicants partnering with organisations in Malawi, Zambia, or Rwanda (for Shifting the Power Grant). First-time applicants are welcome.
How are applicants selected?
Applicants are assessed based on eligibility, capacity development potential, and alignment with the fund’s objectives. Section A of the application form must be completed to confirm eligibility.
Which Countries Are Eligible?
Scotland-based organisations, working in partnership with Global South counterparts (especially Malawi, Zambia, and Rwanda).
Where will the opportunity be taken?
Projects will be implemented through partnerships between Scottish organisations and Global South collaborators.
How Many Opportunities?
Three annual funding rounds, launched each June. Multiple grants available under each category.
