The Mountains ADAPT Small Grants Project, supported by UNEP, provides up to USD 30,000 to community-based organizations in the East African Community (EAC). The program funds ecosystem-based adaptation solutions that help mountain communities respond to climate change impacts, restore ecosystems, and improve livelihoods. Selected organizations also receive tailored capacity-building support and training.
Which Sectors are Eligible?
Projects must focus on nature-based solutions in mountain regions, such as:
- Ecosystem restoration
- Rainwater harvesting
- Climate-smart agriculture
- Disaster preparedness
- Income diversification

Small grants — up to USD 30,000 per project.
Who can Apply?
- Registered civil society organizations (grassroots, youth, women-led, or community-based)
- Must be formally registered and provide a valid certificate
- Must have an official organizational bank account (not personal)
- Must demonstrate prior experience working directly with mountain communities
- Individuals are not eligible
