Ignite Africa Cohort 1 – Test and Validate Fast
Climate change strains food and agriculture at every step of the value chain. Smallholder farmers are often hit first and hardest by drought, erratic rainfall, and flooding. Rising temperatures increase food spoilage, while floods disrupt infrastructure essential to moving products to market. As much as a third of food grown in sub-Saharan Africa is lost before consumption, exacerbated by climate impacts.
Programme Overview
Ignite Africa Cohort 1 is an 8-week remote accelerator for founders with prototypes addressing climate adaptation or resilience in food and agriculture value chains. The program supports ventures ready to test their solutions with real users, aiming to build evidence, refine AI-enabled business models, and develop impactful pitches.
Funding and Benefits
While no direct funding is provided, participants receive weekly group workshops on AI applications, customer discovery, lean experimentation, and impact measurement, complemented by 1:1 sessions with experts in AI, product development, and sector-specific challenges.
Eligibility
Open to early-stage MSMEs, startups, social enterprises, or founder-led ventures with functional prototypes focused on climate adaptation in food and agriculture. Applicants must generate or credibly plan to generate earned revenue and not rely primarily on donor grants or donations. Mature organizations and large corporations are not the cohort’s target.
Business Stage and Sectors
Targets ventures at the prototype or pre-validation stage working in climate adaptation and resilience within food and agriculture, with optional AI integration.
Geography
This cohort is open to ventures based in Africa. Future cohorts are planned for Latin America and Asia.
Deadline
Applications open 17 June 2026 and close 17 August 2026.
