SENSE Foundation Brussels invites applications for project grants supporting scientific research, environmental protection, sustainable development, and health, with a focus on genetics and nutrition. About the Grant

The SENSE Foundation Brussels supports projects and non-profit organizations in Belgium and abroad that align with its mission. The foundation aims to advance science, education, environmental protection, sustainable development, and health, especially in genetics and nutrition. It also provides merit and need-based scholarships to students and ad hoc support to charitable organizations assisting those in temporary hardship. Grants favor projects that foster inclusion, equality, and diversity, especially those supporting women in STEM and minority groups.

Eligibility

  • The organization must be a legally registered non-profit for at least 2 years and have a track record of activities for at least 24 months.
  • Organizations registered after January 1, 2024, are not eligible.
  • Projects must last 9–12 months and be implemented between summer 2026 and summer 2027. This period can be part of a multi-year project.
  • Projects must align with the foundation’s objectives and demonstrate positive impact and effective use of funds.
  • Only one application per organization per calendar year is allowed.
  • Overhead ratios must not exceed 20% (excluding direct project staff costs).
  • Organizations that failed to submit required impact reports for previous grants are ineligible.
  • Applications for commercial sponsorships, sports or cultural event sponsorships, fundraising activities, or projects affiliated with political or religious organizations are not accepted.
  • Incomplete or previously rejected submissions are not eligible.

Grant Amount: Up to €25,000 (maximum 25% of total annual project cost; up to 10% for overheads)
Project Duration: 9–12 months (between summer 2026 and summer 2027)
Funding Scope: Scientific research, environment, sustainable development, health (genetics and nutrition), inclusion, equality, diversity, and support for students and charitable organizations

How to Apply

  1. Review the foundation’s objectives and ensure your project aligns with them.
  2. Prepare a detailed project description, including needs addressed, expected impact, and planned use of funds.
  3. Ensure your organization meets the eligibility criteria.
  4. Submit your application through the official SENSE Foundation Brussels website by the relevant deadline.
  5. Respond promptly to any requests for additional information (within 3 working days, or 1 day near the deadline).
  6. If selected, sign a grant agreement and receive funds within 30 days of signing.
  7. Submit an impact report in English by October/November 2027 using the online form provided by the foundation.
